A wedding near Pisa in a truly special historic villa
Some weddings stay with us not only because they are beautiful, but because they happen in places that feel almost familiar. Richard and Cara’s wedding, an English couple who chose Tuscany for their destination wedding, was one of those days. It took place at Villa Lungomonte, in Asciano Pisano, a historic villa just a few kilometers from Pisa on the slopes of Monte Pisano. The official website presents it as a historic Tuscan villa with elegant interiors, a private pool, and expansive grounds; other property descriptions also note views toward the Leaning Tower of Pisa on clear days.
For us, as a wedding photographer in Pisa, this wedding was especially meaningful for another reason too: Villa Lungomonte is probably the closest wedding venue to our studio among the places where we regularly work. For once, it was wonderful to photograph a celebration almost just around the corner, in a venue of this beauty.
Villa Lungomonte: a perfect wedding venue near Pisa
Villa Lungomonte has a very distinctive character. It is a historic residence with large windows, bright reception rooms, a striking indoor staircase, and extensive grounds surrounding the building. The official website and venue pages describe it as a historic property with Renaissance details, spacious interiors, air-conditioned rooms, a private pool, and gardens suitable for events and group stays.
For couples looking for a wedding photographer at Villa Lungomonte, one of the most interesting qualities of the venue is the variety of its spaces. There is not only the outdoors, with the olive grove, park, and pool area, but also a very strong interior setting that offers real photographic possibilities.
Getting ready inside the villa
Richard and Cara chose to get ready inside the villa, each in a separate room. Cara was upstairs with her friends, while Richard was downstairs in the reception rooms with his groomsmen. This gave the day a natural and well-balanced rhythm, allowing us to tell two different energies within the same place.
The villa, with its cool and luminous interiors, was ideal for this part of the day. We loved being able to work so much indoors, using the rooms, windows, corridors, and especially the staircase, which is one of the most visually striking features of the house. The strength of these interiors is one of the reasons Villa Lungomonte works so well for a destination wedding in Tuscany.
An olive grove ceremony shaded by draped fabric
The ceremony took place in the olive grove, in one of the most atmospheric parts of the property. Beautiful fabric panels had been stretched between the trees to create shade for the guests, making the whole space feel even more welcoming. The result was elegant but relaxed, perfectly in tune with the tone of the wedding: light, spontaneous, and genuinely lived.
Children took part naturally, adding to the lively and easy atmosphere that ran through the whole day. It was an informal wedding in the best possible sense: nothing felt forced, but everything felt beautifully coherent.
Couple portraits inside the villa
Right after the ceremony, we moved into a portrait session and chose to work mainly inside the villa. This was one of the parts of the day we enjoyed the most.
So often, destination weddings in Tuscany rely mostly on outdoor spaces, but Villa Lungomonte also offers extraordinary interiors for portraits. The staircase, the light through the windows, the depth of the rooms, and the formal reception spaces all create images that feel elegant, intimate, and distinct from outdoor portraits. For us, as a wedding photographer at Villa Lungomonte, this is one of the venue’s real strengths.
Aperitivo in the park by the pool
After portraits, guests moved to the rear park of the villa near the swimming pool. This part of the property is surrounded by greenery and feels pleasantly cool thanks to the trees and shaded areas. The villa’s site highlights the relationship between elegant interiors and generous outdoor areas, including the private pool and gardens.
The aperitivo had a very relaxed feel, with guests moving freely through the grounds, talking, laughing, and enjoying the moment naturally. It was exactly the kind of atmosphere we love to photograph: refined, but never overdesigned.
A long dinner table in front of the villa
Dinner was set directly in front of the villa, beneath the large outdoor staircase, with one long imperial table decorated by a floral garland running through the center. As sunset came, the whole scene became even more evocative. The villa’s elevated position opens onto the surrounding landscape, and descriptions of the property mention views toward the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
This was one of the most beautiful moments of the wedding: the light dropping slowly, the simple but elegant table design, the villa behind it, and the Tuscan landscape stretching beyond. It was a very light and natural wedding, but framed by a setting of real significance.
La Bottega del Sogno and Luisa Colombini’s touch
The wedding was planned by La Bottega del Sogno, the wedding planning agency of Luisa Colombini, with whom we collaborate often. The agency’s official website presents it as a planner active in Tuscany and Puglia, specializing in bespoke weddings and destination weddings for international couples.
It is always a pleasure to work with her because her weddings have a quality we genuinely love: they are fresh, elegant, and never unnecessarily complicated. There is always attention to detail, but also real simplicity, which makes everything feel more fluid and more authentic.
Dancing late into the evening
After dinner, the celebration continued with an energetic and joyful party. The dancing began naturally, just like the rest of the day. And that was exactly what made Richard and Cara’s wedding so beautiful: it was elegant, yes, but above all spontaneous, relaxed, and full of happiness.
